Abstract

The LDCs (Least Developed Countries), 49 among 130 developing countries, are the alone category, which is officially recognized by the United Nations. They benefit by a preferential treatment from the international community, because, not only they have a low income per capita, but also their growth is hampered by structural handicaps. This article shows that LDCs are less participating to global governance (in the United Nations, in the World Trade Organization and the Bretton-Woods Institutions), although their economies are greatly affected by global economic changes as well as by the trade and financial decisions taken at the world level.
