Abstract

Die Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie (I&K) ist insgesamt als eine den Produktivitätsfortschritt in allen Sektoren erhöhende Querschnittstechnologie zu betrachten. Eine langfristige Expansion des I&K-Sektors in allen Ländern der Welt dürfte für eine Reihe von Jahren zu erwarten sein. Dies verbessert die internationale Wissensdiffusion, die Arbeitsteilung und die mittelfristigen globalen Wachstumsaussichten. Dieser Beitrag beschreibt dieökonomischen Folgen der Telekomliberalisierung und der Einführung des Internets sowie die wirtschaftspolitischen Optionen, die sich aus diesen Entwicklungen ergeben.
