La salud en las regiones colombianas: inequidad y morbilidad

Abstract

Este documento analiza las diferencias en el estado de salud general de los colombianos por regiones y las principales causas de consulta en el Sistema General de Seguridad Social en Salud. La inequidad se evaluó a través de la metodología propuesta por Allison y Foster y el índice diseñado por Naga-Yalcin. Los resultados de este ejercicio para los años 2005 y 2010 se resumen varios puntos. En primer lugar, las regiones Bogotá y San Andrés y Providencia y Santa Catalina exhiben los mejores estados de salud y equidad en comparación con el resto del país. En contraste, Amazonía y Pacífico muestran un bajo estado de salud general relativo. Adicionalmente, los registros de consultas demuestran que en Colombia persiste una alta prevalencia de enfermedades evitables, algunas de ellas transmisibles como las respiratorias e infecciosas, y otras no transmisibles como la hipertensivas.
