O Valor da flexibilidade de veículos convertidos para o GNV

Abstract

O uso do gás natural como fonte de energia no setor de transportes surgiu como uma alternativa menos danosa ao meio ambiente, além de ser encontrado de forma abundante na natureza. Embora não seja uma fonte renovável, é uma alternativa ao uso da gasolina em veículos, uma vez que as propriedades químicas do gás natural permitem sua utilização como combustível em motores que funcionam por meio de ignição por centelhamento. Veículos leves (automóveis particulares ou comerciais) podem ser fabricados com a possibilidade de uso de mais de um combustível (flex), usualmente gasolina e etanol, ou ainda serem convertidos ao Gás Natural Veicular (GNV). Neste estudo, utiliza-se a metodologia de opções reais para valorar a flexibilidade obtida pela conversão de veículos leves movidos a gasolina para o GNV, considerando que existem incertezas quanto à evolução futura dos preços dos combustíveis alternativos e o risco de escassez do GNV. Os resultados evidenciam que há uma vantagem significativa nessa decisão.
