Abstract

En este trabajo se analizan los efectos de los sistemas de pensiones de reparto y capitalizacion sobre el bienestar social. En concreto, el debate sobre la eleccion entre sistemas de pensiones alternativos se centra en la comparacion de su rentabilidad interna, los efectos sobre el ahorro, la oferta de trabajo, el crecimiento economico y la desigualdad, y las ventajas potenciales de los sistemas mixtos en los que el sistema de reparto se complementa con el de capitalizacion como estrategia para disponer de mas opciones con las que hacer frente a los retos demograficos de las proximas decadas. La principal conclusion es que, tal y como demuestra la experiencia de la mayoria de paises desarrollados, resulta recomendable combinar diferentes sistemas de pensiones en funcion de las preferencias sociales, que a su vez pueden ir cambiando a lo largo del tiempo.
