Movilidad social en Nuevo León: discriminación por tono de piel

Abstract

Mediante una metodología que no se ha usado previamente para evaluar la movilidad social, se estudia si en Nuevo León hay diferencias entre dos grupos con distinto tono de piel a partir de variables observables y los pagos asociados a ellas. Con los datos de la Encuesta ESRU de Movilidad Social en Nuevo León 2021, se encuentra que la movilidad social respecto al quintil de recursos económicos del hogar de origen y el del hogar actual resulta ser más pronunciada para el caso de las personas con un tono de piel más oscuro. Tanto la educación como el número de integrantes del hogar contribuyen a que la brecha de movilidad entre grupos se amplíe, ya que de manera conjunta explican la mayor parte de la diferencia asociada a las características observables del individuo.
