Abstract

El documento plantea dos aproximaciones metodológicas para cuantificar algunos determinantes de la movilidad educativa en México. La primera aproximación, la Macro, explota la variación estatal y temporal de la transmisión intergeneracional de la educación. Se estima un indicador de movilidad intergeneracional por estados a partir de registros individuales con el MCS de la ENIGH (2010 y 2014) lo que permite verificar empíricamente que la movilidad educativa esta negativamente relacionada con la incidencia de pobreza y que esta se encuentra asociada de manera positiva o negativa con la expansión progresiva o regresiva del gasto público en educación respectivamente. La segunda aproximación, la Micro, extiende ese análisis al emplear también los registros individuales de la ESRU-EMOVI (2011). Esta aproximación explota la variación por hogares y revela la importancia de los recursos familiares en la formación del capital humano. Este enfoque revela una expresión alternativa de las trampas de pobreza pues en el grupo de hogares con menores recursos económicos la alta o baja escolaridad de los padres determina casi exclusivamente la alta o baja escolaridad de su descendencia.
