Abstract

Excerpts from the report: This statistical supplement is the first that has been issued since the release of the original report under the same title, and called Miscellaneous Publication No. 576. That was in September 1945. It carried the various monthly series on price spreads for farm food products through August 1944, and supplanted earlier series compiled for 58 foods. This supplement begins with January 1944 and carries the series through March 1947. Many revisions were made for the first 7 months of 1944 in the estimates of farm value, marketing margin, and the farmer's share of the retail price for various food products. These revisions are given in this supplement and supplant the unrevised data shown in the original publication, Miscellaneous Publication No. 576. Full details describing basic data, methods, and procedures are given in the original publication. These include a description of the quantities of the farm products included in the "market basket."
