Viabilidade Econômica Da Exploração Do Cupuaçú Em Sistemas Agroflorestais Na Amazônia

Abstract

O baixo nível de renda, pobreza, falta de acesso aos sistemas de saneamento e saúde e o desmatamento são alguns dos problemas comumente encontrados na região Amazônica brasileira. Frente a esta realidade, foi proposta a aplicação de um Sistema Agroflorestal com os objetivos de minimizar os impactos do plantio e da exploração de recursos no interior da floresta e incrementar a renda e qualidade de vida da população local. O objeto de estudo é a região de Itaituba/PA (médio Tapajós), utilizando o cupuaçu (Theobroma grandiflorum (Willd. ex Spreng.) Schum) e seus diversos potenciais de uso (da polpa, semente e casca) e o beneficiamento da polpa como maneira de agregar valor ao produto. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo realizar um estudo de viabilidade econômica deste Sistema Agroflorestal pelos métodos do valor presente líquido (VPL) e da taxa interna de retorno. A uma taxa de desconto 18,2% a.a. o resultado indicou um VPL de R$ 6.179,00 e uma TIR de 18,63% a.a. Indicando a viabilidade do projeto.
