Abstract

The Projects of settlements Addressed (PAD's), installed in Acre, since 1976, through the Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (INCRA), were presented as a proposal for a promising development for the agricultural activity, rooted in the way of family farming. Among these projects have been created the PAD's Boa Esperança and Humaitá, located in the municipalities of Sena Madureira ande Porto Acre, state of Acre, respectively. However, the small family agricultural production such settlements faces several obstacles and difficult to establish the model of modern agriculture. Given these limitations, finding themselves transform that reality through the implementation of public policies. However, there can be processed without the knowledge of this empirical reality. Considering the lack of studies on the socio-economic situation of rural family production in the Amazon West, specifically in the state of Acre, since 1996, the Department of Economics, Federal University of Acre (UFAC), started the Project Economic Analysis Systems Basic Family Rural Production in the state of Acre (ASPF), in order to find three systems of production prevailing in the Valley of Acre, the extractive, agricultural and agroflorestal. This study proposes to analyze and compare the performance of the socio-economic PAD's Boa Esperança and Humaitá, located in the agricultural system, in the Vale of Acre, using as a reference the cycles of productive 1996/1997 and 2005 / 2006, by indicators of economic results suitable to the region. The results show that despite the apparent improvement in the income of households surveyed, the share of income appropriate by the producers still inadequate for reproduction families in view their spending on the market, in addition to the reduction of economic efficiency between production units analyzed.
