Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the GTAP Data Base version 10, with a specific focus on nomenclature changes and domestic margins. The paper is divided into four sections. The first section provides an overview of nomenclature and valuation changes introduced in the standard GTAP model (Corong et al. 2017)—i.e., from Agents/Markets/World to Supplier/Basic/Purchaser prices. The second section exposes the methodology employed to extract domestic margin information from country-level Supply-Use and Input-Output tables, and how they were used to explicitly account for user- and commodity-specific domestic margin flows in the GTAP Data Base. The third section details the extensions made to the GTAP model, to explicitly account for price wedges associated with domestic margin services—i.e., price wedges between domestic producers and users, as well as between international and domestic markets. The final section presents the suite of programs to manipulate and contribute supply-use and input-output data, with domestic margins information, to the GTAP Center.
