How Can 'The Government' Save the Environment?

Abstract

How farming practices have had an impact on the environment, fifty changes are needed to ovoid permanent (irreversible) damage to the enwonnent.. How the 'Landcare ’ movement started anew attitude to environmental management and how these 'fragmented projects' are now being ‘massaged' into district and regional plans. The Victorian Government is promoting ‘Catchment Management Authorities ’ in nine regions of their state. How the ‘North East Region Catchment Management Authority ’ is coping with the aspirations of both the community and the Government. There are a multitude of policies, plans and strategies: For Weeds, Salinity, Water Quality, Stream Restoration and Regional development, just to name a few. I will try to present my vision of how these plans are being adopted and influence the environmental management in my part of Victoria, Australia.
