Abstract

In order to better understand the need for future farm management resource development needs and to ensure that shrinking development dollars are being efficiently used, the Canadian Farm Business Management Council (CFBMC) has created two important assessment tools: • a National Database of Farm Management Resources and, • a National Framework for Farm Management Practices, outlining farm manager performance objectives. By using these two important resources, a Resource Gap Analysis has been conducted to determine where future development dollars should be targeted. The performance objectives outlined within the Framework have been compared to the current farm management resources developed and available throughout the country. These resources, nearly 2,000 in total, are listed within the database. As a result of this comparative analysis, the resource development gaps have been identified.
