Abstract

Technology and society share a close relationship, as the adoption of new technologies has consequences across value systems and institutions in society. Historically, the emergence of agriculture and subsequent technologies played an important role in shaping social relations. This paper examines the Green Revolution that took place in India during the late 1960s and 70s from the perspectives offered by different development paradigms of technical change in developing countries.
