Single- and Multi-Dimensional Theil Measures of Inequality: An Application to Farm Households

Abstract

Earlier analyses of inequality using Gini coefficients are extended by incorporating measures of inequality between groups of farmers and multiple attributes including years of education. Single- and multi-dimensional inequality declined from 1985 to 1989. A sharp decrease occurred in inequality among gross farm sales between full- and part-time farmers.
