Owner Characteristics and Attitudes

Abstract

The NE-125 regional project was undertaken with a general hypothesis that the changing patterns of ownership (or owner characteristics) would affect attitudes of the owners. These changes are apt to result in conflicts and also affect land use patterns. It was believed, for example, that newer residents would be different in their views than those residents who had lived in an area for longer periods of time. Perhaps they would be more in favor of land use controls. Other socio-economic factors also were believed to be important in shaping people's attitudes.
