Abstract

Les politiques de croissance economique qui reduisent les inegalites ou, au moins, freinent leur augmentation, attenueront la pauvrete en Afrique du Sud. La croissance economique est necessaire pour reduire la pauvrete en Afrique du Sud, mais elle nest pas suffisante pour compenser les effets de linegalite sur la pauvrete. Les politiques qui offrent aux pauvres une education de qualite jusqua lenseignement tertiaire, ainsi quun acces au marche du travail, peuvent les maintenir durablement sur la bonne voie. Les aides sociales, la gratuite des soins de sante et des services deducation sont utiles mais ne suffisent pas en cas de chocs economiques negatifs. Le soutien apporte par les programmes sociaux peut etre ameliore pour mieux aider les pauvres en periode de crise economique et de chocs tels que la pandemie de covid-19..
