Ouverture Financiere et Envois de Fonds : L'experience de l'Afrique Sub-Saharienne

Abstract

L'ouverture financiere a-t-elle une incidence sur les envois de fonds ? Les effets de l'ouverture financiere sur les envois de fonds dependent-ils des niveaux de developpement financier et institutionnel ? Ce document etudie ces questions en utilisant des donnees de panel pour 31 pays d'Afrique subsaharienne entre 1990 et 2015 et en utilisant une technique d'estimation par la methode des moments generalises (GMM) pour un systeme de panel dynamique. Les resultats montrent que l'ouverture financiere, bien qu'ayant un effet decroissant, n'influence pas de maniere significative l'afflux de transferts de fonds dans la region. Toutefois, cet effet diminue avec une amelioration significative de la qualite institutionnelle et un secteur financier bien developpe. Ainsi, l'ouverture financiere se substitue au developpement financier et institutionnel pour favoriser les envois de fonds dans la region.
