L'Impact Attenuant de la Securite Foncia¨re sur l'Insecurite Alimentaire Induite par la Secheresse : Preuves Provenant des Zones Rurales du Malawi

Abstract

Cet article etudie l'interaction entre la securite foncia¨re et la securite alimentaire dans les menages tributaires de l'agriculture. Nous explorons la variation des menages en matia¨re de securite foncia¨re et de chocs de secheresse a travers les villages afin de determiner dans quelle mesure les systa¨mes fonciers affectent la capacite des menages agricoles au Malawi a faire face aux impacts negatifs des chocs meteorologiques. Nos resultats reva¨lent que la securite foncia¨re amortit l'effet des regimes de secheresse sur la securite alimentaire. En outre, nous etablissons que la pratique de l'irrigation comme est le canal sous-jacent qui attenue l'impact des chocs de secheresse sur l'insecurite alimentaire. Les resultats de cette etude renforcent le consensus croissant selon lequel les droits de propriete a travers la securite foncia¨re sont associes a la productivite agricole et, par consequent, a la securite alimentaire des menages.
