L'Impact de la Degradation du Sol sur la Production Agricole et la Securite Alimentaire au Burkina Faso

Abstract

Sur la base d'un moda¨le d'equilibre general calculable (MEGC), l'etude examine l'impact de la degradation des terres sur la production agricole et la securite alimentaire en utilisant trois approches politiques : les programmes d'irrigation, les subventions pour les intrants et equipements agricoles, et le developpement des infrastructures rurales (routes et marches ruraux). Ces politiques d'investissement agricole sont financees par une combinaison de taxes directes et d'aides des partenaires techniques et financiers. Les resultats montrent que la degradation des terres au Burkina Faso fait baisser le Produit Interieur Brut reel. En effet, les politiques agricoles mises en œuvre ont permis d'inverser les effets negatifs de la degradation des terres sur le secteur agricole. Cependant, les politiques agricoles telles que l'amelioration du reseau routier rural, l'extension des capacites d'irrigation et la reduction des coa»ts d'acquisition des engrais chimiques et des equipements agricoles sont des mesures rentables pour les agriculteurs. Les resultats montrent que, face aux contraintes d'offre de production emanant de la baisse de la productivite des terres, le gouvernement pourrait, a court et moyen terme, se concentrer sur l'extension des programmes d'irrigation et la subvention des intrants et des equipements agricoles
