Productividad total de los factores: revisión conceptual y tendencias en la literatura

Abstract

El trabajo revela una tendencia creciente en los estudios sobre la Productividad Total de los Factores (PTF), concepto que presenta controversias en la literatura por su debilidad intrínseca de no poder medirse en forma directa. No obstante, los debates metodológicos han generado nuevas investigaciones concentradas a nivel de empresas para responder aquello que los enfoques macroeconómicos tradicionales no han podido. Además de la revisión conceptual, se efectúa una revisión cuantitativa de la literatura utilizando las publicaciones en los principales journals de economía disponibles en JSTOR y se comparan las mediciones para el caso argentino. La revisión metodológica es relevante por el rol que ocupa la PTF en el crecimiento económico de largo plazo, la convergencia económica entre países y sus implicancias en términos de pobreza, empleo y desigualdad, —componentes de la definición de productividad inclusiva desarrollada por Juan J. Llach—, lo cual requiere continuar indagando sobre los determinantes de la PTF.
