Diseño de un Índice de Pobreza Multidimensional de los Adultos Mayores en Chile Basado en el Método de Alkire y Foster

Abstract

En este trabajo se propone un Índice Pobreza Multidimensional de los adultos mayores en Chile, bajo la metodología de Alkire-Foster. En la aplicación empírica se usan los datos de la Encuesta de Caracterización Socioeconómica Nacional (CASEN) del año 2017. El índice propuesto incorpora un diseño base con seis dimensiones: educación, salud, ingresos, seguridad social, vivienda y estándares de vida. En un diseño alternativo se incorpora además la dimensión de Inclusión social. Para ambos diseños se realiza una comparación entre dos grupos etarios: adultos (entre 40 y 59 años) y adultos mayores (60 o más años). Los resultados indican que en la etapa de la vejez, las tasas de incidencia de la pobreza multidimensional aumentan abruptamente, en comparación con la etapa de la adultez.
