Abstract

Auf dem friedlichen Wege zur Demokratisierung wurden signifikante Fortschritte erzielt. Die Opposition verbesserte ihre Struktur sowie ihren Rückhalt in der Bevölkerung und rang der Regierung beträchtliche Zugeständnisse ab. Der Senegal-Konflikt dominierte weiterhin die außenpolitische Diskussion. Ein Ende der Talfahrt der Wirtschaft ist noch nicht abzusehen. Die Lage im Gesundheitssektor ist alarmierend.
