Reurbanisierung im Umland der Großstadt?

Abstract

Der vorliegende Beitrag untersucht acht Zentren des Umlandes der Stadtregion Hamburg als städtische Raumstrukturen, in denen sich eine Reurbanisierung gegenüber dem flächenhaften Umland abspielen kann. Basierend auf kleinräumigen Bevölkerungs- und Wanderungsdaten der amtlichen Statistik werden die bevölkerungsstrukturellen Veränderungsprozesse mit drei in der Reurbanisierungsforschung üblichen Messkonzepten empirisch untersucht. Ziel ist es, die ablaufenden Prozesse besser zu verstehen, um ihre planerische Begleitung in den Zentren zu ermöglichen. Im Ergebnis kann festgestellt werden, dass es eine Reurbanisierung im Sinne eines Bevölkerungsgewinns der Mittelzentren aus dem eigenen Umland sowie im Sinne eines Bevölkerungskonzentrationsprozesses gibt und dass Veränderungen bei allen Altersklassen - nicht nur bei den Berufseinsteigern - für die Ausprägung der festgestellten Reurbanisierung eine Rolle spielen.
