Abstract

Am Beispiel Hamburgs werden der Verlauf der Suburbanisierung sowie der gegenwärtig zu beobachtende Reurbanisierungsprozess analysiert. Ziel des Beitrags ist es, zu einem möglichst umfassenden Verständnis der Rahmenbedingungen zu gelangen, die die demografischen Veränderungen in der Kernstadt sowie im suburbanen Umland beeinflussen. Hierzu ist neben der Betrachtung der räumlichen und gesellschaftlichen Strukturen (Makroebene) die Analyse der Veränderung von Wohnpräferenzen (Mikroebene) von Bedeutung. Um dem gesellschaftlichen Wandel Rechnung zu tragen, der eine "Renaissance des städtischen Wohnens" nahelegt, bedarf es planerischer sowie wohnungsbaupolitischer Anstrengungen, um urban orientierte Haushalte nicht zur Suburbanisierung zu zwingen.
