Abstract

The dynamism of the East Asian economy is closely related to the region's real economic linkages through foreign trade and foreign direct investment (FDI). The deepening of real economic linkages has been the key driving force for East Asia's rapid industrialization and economic growth. Multinational enterprises' global supply chains have spread extensively across national borders, connecting the East Asian economies [Ando and Kimura, 2005], and developing Asian economies have been able to accelerate the process of industrialization by participating in these supply chains [Gill and Kharas, 2007]…
