Abstract

This chapter traces the evolution of real estate education globally and specifically in Singapore, given its role in nurturing the talent required to support the evolving real estate industry. As the real estate landscape in Singapore has evolved over the last 50 years, the real estate degree programme has also undergone significant changes to meet the constantly-changing needs of the industry. Indeed, as the only real estate degree programme offered in Singapore, the National University of Singapore (NUS) Department of Real Estate has been producing graduates for the real estate industry since its inception in 1969, four years after Singapore's independence. Today, these graduates can be found in both public and private sectors. Many are leaders in professional consultancy firms, real estate investment trusts and funds, development and other real estate-related companies and various government agencies…
