Abstract

Slovenia is the richest country among new EU member states (NMS) in Central and Eastern Europe. In May 2004, together with seven countries from Central and Eastern Europe, this country was admitted to the European Union (EU). On January 1, 2007 Slovenia joined the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU) and adopted Euro as its national currency, becoming the first Eurozone member among the NMS in Central and Eastern Europe. The country successfully served as the EU Presidency in the first half of 2008. In that sense Slovenia was the most successful post-communist country in Central and Eastern Europe…
