Abstract

This chapter describes a framework for Green Operations to improve the environmental decisions of organizations in the automotive industry. The model draws on three major fields of research: environmental management, operations management, and automotive production. The framework should lead to a better understanding of environmental issues among researchers and practitioners that are interested in sustainability, especially for the automotive industry. Its relevance derives from the combination of concepts, strategies and knowledge of sustainability and the automotive industry to provide an integrated approach to sustainability in car makers' operations.
