Abstract

Indian culture aligns with social entrepreneurship through values such as optimism, quality focus, karma, long-term relationships, environmental care, and acceptance of diversity. This alignment is essential for achieving social development goals. The evolution of social responsibility in Indian businesses went through phases of philanthropy, support for independence, state-led initiatives, and, most recently, strong civil society engagement.India needs more social entrepreneurs to address persistent social issues, including poverty, unemployment, environmental degradation, and gender disparity. Social entrepreneurs can create inclusive societies, tackle environmental challenges, innovate for social impact, build sustainable businesses, and serve as change agents.Social entrepreneurship in India faces challenges such as a lack of financial support, resource constraints, difficulties in measuring social impact, gender discrimination, and the need to overcome traditional gender roles. Despite these challenges, social entrepreneurship remains a promising avenue for addressing India’s complex social problems.
