Abstract

Over the years, production within human society has grown to be bifurcated into two parts, namely agriculture and manufacturing. There then emerged a situation whereby production was undertaken with the purpose of exchange. That is to say the first stage was commodity production, followed by trade within tribes, then trade along tribal boundaries, and finally trade overseas. It can therefore be concluded that foreign trade, as a social and economic activity, has been in existence since late primitive society…
