Abstract

The past decades have witnessed an increasing number of green construction projects that have been developed worldwide in response to the global sustainable development goals, the active promotion from the authorities, and the increasing interest from customers. However, similar to non-green construction projects, green construction projects are inevitably plagued with a wide variety of risks. These risks encompass the general risks that tend to occur in all types of construction projects and the risks that are closely associated with the unique characteristics of green construction projects. Effective management of these risks is critical to the successful delivery of green construction projects. This chapter aims to identify the risks that are closely associated with green construction and present methods to analyze these risks. The risk analysis methods include fuzzy synthetic evaluation, risk path modeling, and social network analysis. A series of risk response measures are proposed to deal with the critical risks.
