Abstract

The focus of this lecture is on the interaction between domestic interests and the direction which the international negotiations take. It is well recognized that domestic interest may derail international negotiations or support them. The ability of states to sign and ratify a global policy will be the result of a domestic negotiation as well. The chapter describes the interaction between domestic interest groups and the state representatives in the international negotiations and predicts different outcomes under different power relations that take place.
