Abstract

When we got back to the Accenture Atlanta office, to Joseph and Fabio’s credit they did not hold a grudge and went right to work to arrange the Vietnam trip (a shining example of good leadership, no ego). Aiden didn’t directly control Coke Europe, but he was on the board, so a successful Vietnam pilot was key for this RFP and our other deals with the whole Coke system. From the very beginning, it was clear that Joseph and Fabio didn’t want to ride around Vietnam on a motorbike for 6 weeks installing Internet of Things (IoT) devices on Coke coolers, so they left this largely up to me. Now the question was how do we get someone who holds the rank of analyst (me, the lowest rank) at Accenture to get internally approved to go live in Vietnam and Cambodia for 6 weeks? The Vietnamese division also managed Cambodia operations at the time and wanted to test both markets simultaneously, which made my life a lot more complicated…
