Abstract

The chapter describes the role of public policy on sustainable finance in the European Union (EU). Based on working and legislative documents, key aspects of public decision-making on sustainable finance development at the supranational level are analyzed. The research reveals incentives and legislative conditions for the development of green finance in the European context and concerns some aspects of national policies in the area. Special attention is paid to climate and environmental risks faced by banks. The chapter concludes by presenting the main results and recommendations in the sphere.
