Abstract

Self-evaluation is obligatory for schools in Slovenia since 2008. Throughout the years there has not been any national guidelines on how to effectively implement self-evaluation, rather a number of projects or incentives led by different institutions. Self-evaluation in schools is for this and other reasons implemented differently in terms of efficiency and quality. Therefore, a two-year program, financed by the MoE and EU, was designed to prepare a more coherent national system of quality for schools. The paper discusses the results of one of the preliminary studies that was focused on how the so-called ‘developmental’ (strong) and ‘pilot’ (weak) schools implement self-evaluation. Key findings are presented and used as a framework for establishing learning collaboration and school networks.
