Abstract

The units of a product should be produced by a stable process so that the variability of the product’s quality characteristics is sufficiently small. Statistical process control (SPC) is a tool to achieve process stability and improve process capability through reducing the variability of quality characteristics. There are many SPC methods and tools. We focus on control chart methods in this chapter. Typical control charts for both variable and attribute are presented; process capability indices and multivariate statistical process control methods are also discussed.
