Abstract

During the product development stage, the reliability of product can be improved by a test-analysis-and-fix process. The process begins with the testing of prototypes of the product (or its key subsystems), system failures are analyzed and corrective actions are identified and implemented. The process ends when the product reliability reaches a prespecified level. This process is called the reliability growth process. A challenging issue in this process is to predict the ultimate reliability of the final product configurations based on all the test observations and taken corrective actions. This needs to use appropriate reliability growth models. In this chapter we focus on the reliability growth models and data analysis. Reliability demonstration test to verify the design is also briefly discussed.
