Abstract

This chapter shows some periodic and sequential inspection models, and the computation of checking times which minimize the expected cost rates. At first, we mention the standard inspection model and its computation. Next, we treat the random inspection model in which a unit works with random times, and the finite inspection model in which an operating unit has to be operating for a finite interval. Asymptotic inspection times for a Weibull distribution are shown. We obtain balancing costs for the total expected cost until failure detection and the expected cost rate. Further, we propose mean deviations of inspection models between the periodic inspection interval and its failure, and three modified inspection models.
