Abstract

The advice given by the prominent silk entrepreneur Edoardo HaasHaas, Edoardo to his son does not come as a surprise to scholars interested in women's role and position in the nineteenth century. Societal expectations placed on women at the time confined them within the boundaries of domesticity.
