Abstract

According to the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Green Jobs are defined as employment opportunities that meet the criteria of being both decent and conducive to the preservation or repair of the natural environment. Skills can be cultivated within conventional industries like manufacturing and construction, as well as within developing sectors focused on sustainability, such as renewable energy and energy efficiency. Green jobs have the potential to facilitate the widespread adoption of renewable energy sources, enhance material utilisation and efficiency, mitigate pollution, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, safeguard and rehabilitate natural ecosystems, and provide assistance in adapting to and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
