Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Volkswagen-Konzern mit Hauptsitz in Wolfsburg ist einer der führenden Automobilhersteller der Welt und der größte in Europa. Volkswagen, das den Titel „Grüner Motor des Jahres 2009“ erhielt, wurde am 18. September 2015 wegen langjähriger Verstöße gegen die Berufsethik und illegaler Umweltverschmutzung entlarvt. Martin Winterkorn, der ehemalige Vorstandsvorsitzende von Volkswagen, trat im September 2015 zurück. Darüber hinaus erklärte sich Volkswagen bereit, sich im Abgasskandal schuldig zu bekennen und eine Geldstrafe in Höhe von 4,3 Mrd. US-Dollar zu zahlen, und am 11. Januar 2017 wurden sechs Volkswagen-Führungskräfte angeklagt. Am 3. Mai 2018 wurde Winterkorn in den USA wegen Betrugs und Verschwörung angeklagt.
