Abstract

Zusammenfassung Tesco Plc, der britische multinationale Lebensmittel- und Einzelhandelsriese mit Hauptsitz in England, gab bekannt, dass sein Gewinn für die sechs Monate bis zum 24. August 2014 voraussichtlich etwa 1,1 Mrd. Pfund betragen würde. Am 22. September 2014 gab Tesco eine Korrektur heraus, in der es erklärte, dass seine frühere Ankündigung die Gewinne um etwa 250 Mio. Pfund zu hoch angegeben hatte, was später auf 326 Mio. Pfund korrigiert wurde (Martin, 2016). Diese Ankündigung löste in verschiedenen Branchen Schockwellen aus und führte zu einem sofortigen Rückgang des Marktwerts von Tesco-Aktien und -Anleihen, der auf 2 Mrd. Pfund geschätzt wurde (Bergin, 2014). Darüber hinaus leiteten Regierungsbehörden wie der Financial Reporting Council (FRC), das Serious Fraud Office (SFO) und die Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) eine umfassende Untersuchung der falschen Abschlüsse von Tesco ein.
