The Luqiao Model of Microfinance Development

Abstract

With a highly developed private economy, Luqiao District has been persistently improving its micro financial services and exploring a path for developing microfinance with Luqiao characteristics to ensure the healthy growth of Micro and Small enterprises (MSEs). Luqiao’s experience in developing microfinance is worth promoting to the whole country. Based on the analysis of the current status of microfinance in Luqiao, this chapter thoroughly explores the development of microfinance here and outlines the mature “Luqiao Model”. First, an analysis of the three orientations in its development is provided; Secondly, its five characteristics from business form and coverage are presented. Lastly, its three unique innovation modes are discussed.
