Abstract

Shanghai, whose skyline boasted a mix of old Shikumens (石库门), the Bund (外滩) with its British-style buildings, and the French Concession area (上海法租界), was a melting pot of past and future, Chinese traditions neighbored by European traits. This was Francesco’s first impression of Shanghai, and it continued to enchant him after he moved to China to study and work in February 2016.
