Abstract

In the contemporary landscape of commerce, the logistics sector emerges as a pivotal entity where speed, precision, and efficiency reign supreme. This opening chapter explores the pressing need for technology adoption within Vietnam's logistics industry, highlighting its indispensable role in navigating the complexities of modern supply chains. By meticulously examining the evolving dynamics and challenges inherent in logistics, the chapter highlights technology's pivotal role in orchestrating seamless operations and enhancing visibility across the supply chain network. Traditionally confined to rudimentary warehousing and transportation functions, logistics has evolved into a multifaceted ecosystem propelled by e-commerce, just-in-time inventory practices, and globalized supply chains. Consequently, the chapter elucidates how technological integration is no longer a luxury but necessary to mitigate delays, inefficiencies, and financial risks inherent in the logistics domain. Moreover, Chapter 1 delineates technology's far-reaching impact on driving efficiency, sustainability, and risk management within logistics operations. By providing a comprehensive framework for understanding the symbiotic relationship between technology and logistics, the chapter serves as a cornerstone for subsequent explorations into specific technological applications. As the exigency for technology in logistics intensifies, this seminal work foretells a future marked by transformative innovations that promise to redefine the contours of the logistics landscape.
