Abstract

Nursing, a blend of art and science, plays a pivotal role in healthcare. As global demand rises due to aging populations and chronic diseases, nurses address public health challenges and advocate for equity. Their evolving roles in telehealth, technology integration, and mental health underscore their importance. Nurse leaders must recognize the link between social determinants of health (SDOH) and health status. Nurses serve at the intersection of health, education, and communities, contributing to equitable health systems. Key trends include technology integration, interprofessional collaboration, preventive care, specialization, and diversity efforts. A variety of current and emerging issues influence the field of nursing, from ongoing health care reform and integration of new technologies to patient-centered care to respect for the profession and its expertise, merit exploration, and consideration in setting national priorities for the next 10 years. Challenges include workload, shortages, complex patients, and adapting to system changes. Nursing plays a pivotal role in improving health and shaping health policies. Investing in nurses is crucial for resilient and sustainable health systems. Challenges faced by nurses include high patient ratios, global shortages impacting patient care, complex patients (such as an aging population with multiple chronic conditions), and adapting to evolving healthcare policies and practices. To create an equitable future, nursing must embrace digital transformation and upskill in areas like data science and informatics.
