Abstract

This chapter explores the complex dynamics of change implementation in professional contexts, introducing a comprehensive framework for understanding how changes are executed across different organisational levels. It expands traditional concepts of majority and minority influence by redefining them through the lens of energy states, incorporating power, influence, and authority. The chapter presents three interconnected typologies—intervention, suitability, and optimisation—that reflect different approaches to change implementation based on majority and minority acceptance. These typologies are further developed into conceptually quantifiable spectrums of majority conformity, minority conformity, and radicalisation, offering professionals a structured way to reflect on change strategies. The framework acknowledges that change implementation involves multiple stakeholders and various trade-offs between conformity and innovation. By examining how different combinations of intervention, suitability, and optimisation choices affect stakeholder dynamics, the chapter provides practical insights for professionals managing organisational changes. This approach bridges the gap between theoretical change management models and practical implementation challenges, offering a more nuanced understanding of how changes can be effectively implemented while balancing diverse stakeholder interests.
