Abstract

This chapter examines the intersection of various ethical frameworks and their application to professional practice. It examines various ethical viewpoints, including Natural Law, Behaviourist, Deontological, and Situational approaches. The chapter promotes a balanced view of ethics, arguing against rigid rules and suggesting that different ethical perspectives should be considered depending on the context. The discussion culminates in the presentation of 55 reconciled ethical principles, organised into six key areas: laws of the observable, the unobservable, norms, applicability of laws and norms, changes to laws and norms, and general principles. These core principles create a strong ethical foundation for all professions, despite the challenges of applying them in real life. The chapter emphasises that ethical principles must be understood as dynamic rather than static, context-dependent rather than absolute, and inclusive rather than exclusive. Professionals can use this approach to solve ethical problems effectively by considering all perspectives.
