Abstract

This chapter explores the dynamic world of e-commerce, an essential component of the e-business landscape, highlighting its models, evolution, advantages, disadvantages, and future developments. E-commerce, defined as the electronic exchange of goods and services, has transformed global business operations by enabling direct and efficient transactions across models such as Business-to-Consumer (B2C) and Business-to-Business (B2B), each with unique benefits and challenges. Driven by technological advancements and widespread internet adoption, e-commerce's evolution, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, has expanded its scope. The chapter delves into Industry 4.0 technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and blockchain, enhancing logistics, delivery, and customer experience, projecting a more personalised, efficient, and secure future.
